How much does it cost to replace a double glazed misty window or handles and hinges?
It depends. The variables are the size of the window, the type of glass required and whether the window is leaded or not. Handles and hinges depend on size and type, but, one thing we can be sure of as far as the price is concerned; it will be lower than you think.
Is your work guaranteed?
Yes. We guarantee all of our installations for a period of 5 years. Our workmanship is 100% guaranteed.
I thought sealed double glazed units last for ever?
Depending on the manufacturing process and type of glass units and the installation method used, glass units should last for a minimum of 5 years and have been known to last beyond 30 years.
Why can’t I just purchase the glass and replace it myself?
You can, but we wouldn’t recommend it. We have over 32 years experience in the glazing industry. Replacing a sealed unit requires skill if it is to be carried out correctly. You will have to also purchase a number of specialist tools including a depth measuring device to measure the internal gap between the two panes of glass…it cant be done with a tape measure, or guesswork.
Do I need Buildings Regulations approval to change the glass?
No. But Building Regulations will apply if you change the whole of a fixed frame and the opening parts. Another reason why replacing the glass not the frames, makes good sense.
Do I need to change my windows when they become faulty?
Probably not unless the frame is badly damaged. The majority of double glazing companies will advise clients that they need a whole new window including new, frames glass locks etc…That simply isn’t true In many cases you only need to replace the glass hinges or handles
How long will it take to carry out the installation?
It depends on how many units of glass are being replaced, on average an individual sealed unit can be replaced in less than 20 minutes.
